After the couples counseling, quite a lot of things changed in my relationship. What I first started doing was to learn how to fix things. I was helped by couples counseling to show me what needed to be done. For good reason my wife was not happy with me. If I would just pay more attention to her, and her needs, I knew I could change a lot of things.
Some needs are easy to fill. One of them was fixing things around the house, although I was a fix it idiot. So I found lots of good resources on the Internet, and great books. So it did not take long at all until I was fixing things around the house, and of course my wife was thrilled.

So was this the end of our problems? Not on your life.
Not until we started working on ourselves, did things really start to improve!
Couples counseling or not, just remember this: no matter how much fixing I did around the home, I could never ultimately make my wife happy, if she was not happy already from within.

Be happy now in the moment. No one in the world can make you upset except yourself. I went through a lot of trouble until I came to this conclusion. I love sharing in other peoples happiness, but I no longer look for happiness in other people. Now I share in my wife’s happiness and she in mine.
